Methodists have been in Umhlali since the 1870's - we have an old marriage register in our office which records that the first wedding conducted at the Umhlali Chapel took place in 1871 between Jemima Burne and Thomas Fayle (several of their descendants still worship with us!). Our present church building was constructed in 1924. Umhlali Methodist Church is a community of people, not a venue for public worship, but we really value our long association with the community however and count it an immense privilege to worship each Sunday in a building that has been used for that purpose for close on 100 years.
The greater Ballito area is developing at an incredible pace, and we're excited to be a part of such a dynamic community - we think it is a great time to be the Church on the KZN North Coast! There are a number of new church communities being established in Ballito and several established churches meet within walking distance of us in Umhlali (All Souls Anglican Church and LINC are just over the highway from us and Christ Church North Coast meet at the edge of Umhlali villlage).
