First, a word of thanks for all your care and concern for our kids over this last week. Anna and Tom spent several days in hospital with a nasty virus, but they were both discharged on Monday and doing so much better! But we so appreciated your love and concern during a tough week - thank you!

Then some other church news:
1. We're exploring two property projects at the moment. First is a proposal to replace the glass doors in the hall with sliding/stacked doors. The idea was first mooted because we are hosting our District WA meetings here next year and this would allow a big group to meet under one roof (spilling out onto the verandah with the sliding doors open). We think the alteration would be a helpful one in the long-term as it would open up the area for big functions (eg: large funeral teas, courses, etc). An engineer is coming to look tomorrow after which we'll gets quotes and make a final decision.
2. The second project is our Sunday School and Youth container village (incorporating a mid-week Khanyisa training venue). The details of what we'd like to do here (including a foundation, covered area between the containers, glass doors and insulation for the summer heat) are being finalised and costed before we can make a decision on what is feasible and affordable now. We don't have the reserves to finance these projects directly, so we may need to explore a phased approach or some specific fund-raisers. We'll let you know when we have more details, but if you'd like to support either of these efforts, please let us know.
3. Last week, Kym mentioned our visitors from the USA who will be with us in just over a week. They've come a long way to see and be a part of some of our Khanyisa projects and Kym will be sharing some more about these projects in the coming weeks. Look out for where you can be involved!
4. This morning we begin a new preaching series which recognises that we tend to complicate and clutter our lives. Over the next four weeks, we're going to be invited by God to experience simplicity, and each week we will think about a life-giving practice that helps us to 'unclutter our souls'. The series will conclude with our annual Thanksgiving Service on 18 Oct.
